Philadelphia's Lil Uzi Vert came into the spotlight in 2014 after being featured in DJ Carnage's "WDYW" which also featured artist A$AP Ferg and Atlanta's QC the Label member, Rich The Kid.He also garnered attention from Philadelphia native, DJ DRama. Ever since obtaining more notoriety from major producers to being interviewed by Sway on Sways Universe, Uzi has only seen more success from there with recently being featured on the intro track of Young Thug's, Slime Season 2.
Moreoever, LUV Is RAGE shows Uzi's ability to mix the east coast influences with southern influences, due to the fact that he has tracks produced by Sonny Digital, TM88, FKi, Don Cannon, among others. On all 16 tracks here Uzi shows even though he is from up north, the south has a massive influence on both his vocal style and the type of production he favors. His half-singing/half- rapping works to his complete advantage especially on songs like "7am", "Super saiyan", "Yamborghini Dream" featuring Young Thug, and "Wit My Crew." Uzi is proving himself to be a young trap-star with his apathetic, catchy bars which can only be compared to that of Chicago's Lucki Eck$, Atlanta's own PlayBoi Carti and QC's, Jose Guapo.
Furthermore, Uzi has an eccentric appearance from his short, blonde dreads, his even shorter necklaces to the tattoos on his face. Regardless of what he looks like Uzi knows the type of crowd he wants to attract and he does an impeccable job at reaching those audiences with this tape. On the song "Banned From TV" you really see Uzi shine as he sings on the hook "You kiss your bitch to work I make her swallow my child, We moving, shaking, working now that money going pile. My ex be so upset because I'm balling right now." Uzi doesn;'t have a deep, underlying message that one may look for when listening to TDE or Pro Era. HE is here to make msuic for fun, and have sex and do drugs while he does it.
Lil Uzi Vert is showing that he has a lot of potential and capability to be the next Young Thug or Future with his drug-induced bars and eccentric flow. Even if he doesn't reach mainstream audiences, Uzi will always be respected in the trap rap game because of his personality and ability to reach many diverse crowds. What is also good is that Uzi is young and has a bright future ahead of him and with the release of every song he gets closer to becoming the artist he foresees himself being, and that is a trap rapper that other fellow trap artist will love to share a feature with. And with the release of LUV Is RAGE, he is not far from that becoming reality.
